What is a dental Implant?

dental_implant

A dental implant is a fixture, which is biocompatible with the jawbone.  This acts as a metal root and is screwed into the jawbone. This implant will then fuse into the natural bone tissue over time.  After the healing period, an artificial tooth or denture is securely attached to this implant.  If placed well, the dental implant can be a permanent solution to tooth loss, both in terms of appearance and function.
